Toyota Motor president Katsuaki Watanabe has said his company would like to maintain friendly relations with General Motors and Nissan Motor.

The remark came at a press conference in Japan after alliance talks between GM and Nissan-Renault came to an end last week, Kyodo News said.

Watanabe reportedly said GM and the Nissan-Renault team might have had their respective reasons to terminate their talks.

Toyota has kept cooperative relations with GM over a long time and provided Nissan with its petrol-electric hybrid system.

Watanabe also said Toyota could cooperate with any automaker mainly in technology development, the report added.
