Toyota will reduce domestic output in the final quarter of this year by more than 10% over the June-September period to around 12,500 units a day as government subsidies for eco-friendly cars dry up next month.

It will be the first time that Toyota’s daily output has fallen below 13,000 units since it was heavily hit by the flooding in Thailand last November.

The carmaker’s domestic sales in the first half of 2012 rose 83% from a year earlier to around 917,000 units, boosted by favourable sales of hybrid cars. It aims to achieve its yearly target for domestic output of 3.4m units.

In Europe, Toyota has announced several organisational changes in Europe effective as of 1 September. Takashi Karasawa, currently dually assigned as TME’s chief financial officer and vice-president of human resources and administration, has been appointed senior vice-president of administration while continuing his role as CFO.

Andy Pfeiffenberger, currently dually assigned as vice-president of Lexus Europe and vice-president of strategic relationship management, corporate and business planning, will take on the role of vice-president of human resources and administration.

Paul van der Burgh, director of Lexus Europe, will take the lead for the Lexus brand in Europe, reporting directly to Karl Schlicht, executive vice-president overseeing sales and marketing, product management, and aftersales for both Toyota and Lexus in Europe.

Mark Adams will take over the role of vice-president of strategic relationship management, corporate and business planning. He is currently vice-president of purchasing. That role will go to Takayuki Shirata.
