Toyota has set up an office to improve information disclosure in view of mounting criticism in the United States over massive recalls of Toyota vehicles.

The new office will soon start drawing up plans to seek global understanding of Toyota’s views and work out activities for public relations.

A Toyota public relations official told Kyodo News the automaker would like to map out the best activities for public relations and carry out them as fast as possible.

Toyota executives faced a barrage of questions from US lawmakers over Toyota’s safety problems at congressional hearings in Washington earlier this week.
