Toyota Motor global output, excluding its Hino and Daihatsu brands, rose 3.8% year on year in September to 696,594 vehicles.
Nissan Motor built 274,788 vehicles worldwide, down 12.5%.
Official figures showed Honda output was up 5% to 318,946. Mitsubishi was off 15.4% to 106,666 units.
Ford-controlled Mazda world output was up 1% to 106,332.
