Citing Toyota, Reuters said 397,263 vehicles in Japan were affected by a potential brake pipe problem where xtremely cold weather and repeated stops and starts on snow-covered roads could result in damage to the pipe and possibly reduce the driver’s control.
The vehicles were built between October 2000 and April 2002, Reuters added.

Reuters said Toyota was also recalling 24,279 Liteace and Townace vans with a potential gearbox defect that were built between June 1999 and June 2002 and sold in Japan.
