The service, dubbed ‘G-Book’, will enable drivers to receive interactive information services via vehicle-mounted wireless communication terminals. The G-Book will feature a Data Communications Module and a Secure Digital card, enabling customers to take advantage of networked services.
It will be made available via a fixed monthly fee that allows the use of an on-board terminal to receive about 30 different standard service items. These items include a safety and security service, live navigation service, entertainment service, communication service and e-commerce service.
The company said a new Toyota vehicle model featuring an on-board G-Book terminal will be rolled out later this autumn.
The G-Book system can be accessed through personal computers, personal digital assistants and mobile phones.
