A Toyota joint venture in Guangzhou, southern China, has started production of engine parts.

Kyodo News reported that, in addition to engine parts, Guangqi Toyota Engine Co. is scheduled to begin turning out 2.4-litre petrol engines this fall and export 25,000 engines to Japan by the end of the year.

The venture, jointly set up with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., will also supply another Guangzhou-based joint venture between the two with engines for Camry passenger cars, production and sales of which will start in mid-2006, the report added.
