Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported its best-ever May sales of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles and posted its 27th consecutive monthly sales record. May also marked the 15th consecutive month Toyota Certified Used Vehicles have exceeded 10,000 sales.
May sales of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles totaled 13,866, an increase of 20.8 percent compared to May 1999. Calendar year-to- date sales total 65,280, up 39.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
“The incredible sales pace of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles so far this year has even surpassed our own expectations,” said Guillermo Hysaw, TMS corporate manager, used vehicle operations department. “The consecutive monthly sales records are a testament to our belief that when you have the best certified used vehicle program, the best dealers and the best cars you create a lasting formula for success and competitive advantage.”

The Toyota Used Vehicle process, established in 1996, continues to provide the best pre-owned warranty in the industry. The warranty, from date of first use, includes six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain coverage, as well as an optional comprehensive 100,000-mile vehicle service agreement. And, 24-hour roadside assistance also is provided free of charge for one year.
All 1995-2000 models with less than 65,000 miles are eligible for the program. Prior to sale, each vehicle receives a rigorous 128- point inspection of all mechanical and safety functions, as well as overall appearance considerations.
