Toyota Auto Body Co. has said its cumulative vehicle production since its spinning off from Toyota Motor Corp. in 1945 reached 25m units last Wednesday.

Toyota Auto Body, which assembled trucks initially, began to produce the BJ Toyota Jeep sport utility vehicle in the 1950s, developed the Hiace commercial vehicle and then turned out the Estima minivan in the 1990s.

At present, it assembles the new Prius gasoline-electric hybrid car at its Fujimatsu plant in Aichi Prefecture and the Alhard minivan at its Inabe plant in Mie Prefecture.
