Suzuki has introduced its sixth generation Alto in Japan.

The new car is built on the new small car platform first used for the new Wagon R last year and is 30mm higher than its predecessor, with a roomier interior and larger seats.

This Kei-class model has the usual 660 cc engine, developing 40kW/54 bhp which can be ordered with a five-speed manual transmission and three- or four-speed automatic gearboxes. 2WD and 4WD variants are both on offer and the monthly sales target is 6000 units.

The Japanese market Alto is different from the larger engined export model built in India and distributed world-wide. That car was fully redesigned a couple of years ago.
