Suzuki Motor chief executive Osamu Suzuki has denied reports that Volkswagen was considering a 10% stake in the Japanese carmaker.
He told the Chunichi Shimbun daily there had been no contact with VW. He added: “Lately, we’ve been the victim of a lot of rumours (of equity tie-ups and cooperation deals).”
Last week sources told Reuters that VW was exploring a deal to cooperate with Suzuki to boost its presence in ultra-small cars while German publication Manager magazine said VW could do this by taking a 10% stake.
