Fuji Heavy Industries has started full production of the new Subaru BRZ sports car it co-developed with Toyota.

The rear wheel drive model goes on sale in Japan on 28 March, a week or so before the Toyota ’86. The BRZ is manufactured at Fuji’s plant in Ota, Gunma Prefecture.

Fuji president Yasuyuki Yoshinaga said: “We will continue to refine and grow the model into one that is loved by customers for a long time.”

The launch ceremony was also attended by Toyota president Akio Toyoda.
