The Japan Times reports that the Japanese unit of PSA Peugeot Citroen has said that it will recall 3,401 units of its nine car models to fix defects connected to engine starters.

The article says that in a report submitted to the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry, Peugeot Japon Co. said there is a danger that drivers may not be able to stop their starter motors, which could result in damage as engine keys may return to their normal position after the engines are started.

The problem involves the Peugeot 307XS, 307XSI, 307XT and 307 Style, which were imported between July 2001 and December 2001, and the Peugeot 206XT, 206XT Premium, 206XS, 206S16 and 206CC, which were imported between November 2001 and January 2002.
