Nissan has launched its latest hybrid drivetrain again combining a 2.5-litre I4 petrol engine with electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack.
This time around, the petrol engine uses a supercharger that helps the powertrain deliver comparable power and torque to Nissan’s well-established, an well-liked VQ35 3.5-litre V6 while providing better fuel economy.

Company engineers said the torque curve for this new drivetrain is similar to that of the V6.
Industry observers have speculated the new drivetrain could supplement or even replace the VQ35 in cars like the US-made Altima.
The Yokohama-based automaker plans to launch more forced-induction hybrid powertrains for its Nissan and Infiniti brands, mostly with plug-in technology.
