Nissan’s global production in May increased 17.9% year on year to 435,056 units, marking an all time record for the month of May.

Production in Japan increased 5.2% year on year to 84,201 units, mainly due to increased demand for Serena and Note, which qualify for the government subsidy program for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Production outside of Japan increased 21.5% year on year to 350,855 units, marking an all time record for the month of May.

In the US, production increased 15.3% year on year to 56,629 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Infiniti JX and Frontier.

In Mexico, production increased 11.1% year on year to 60,734 units, due to increased demand for Versa, March and pickup trucks.

In the UK, production increased 25.7% year on year to 49,344 units, mainly due to increased demand for Juke and Qashqai.

In Spain, production decreased 8.7% year on year to 14,019 units, despite increased demand for Navara.

In China, production increased 20.1% year on year to 118,787 units, mainly due to increased demand for Tiida, Qashqai and the new Venucia D50, marking an all time record for the month of May.

Production in other regions increased 62.7% year on year to 51,342 units, mainly due to increased demand for Sunny in India and Almera in Thailand.

Sales
Global sales increased 17.4% year on year to 404,991 units, marking an all time record for the month of May.

Including mini vehicles, Nissan sold 44,339 units in Japan, up 16.7% year on year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in May increased 17.4% year on year to 32,918 units, mainly due to increased demand for Note and Serena, which qualify for the government subsidy program for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Mini vehicle sales in Japan increased 14.8% year on year to 11,421 units, marking an all time record for the month of May. The strong sales result is mainly due to increased demand for Roox, which qualifies for the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Sales outside of Japan increased 17.5% year on year to 360,652 units, marking an all time record for the month of May.

Sales in the US increased 20.5% year on year to 91,794 units, due to increased demand for the new Infiniti JX which went on sale in April as well as Versa and Rogue.

In Europe, sales decreased 10.8% year on year to 52,354 units.

In China, sales increased 20.1% year on year to 112,048 units, due to increased demand for Tiida, Qashqai and the new Venucia D50, marking an all time record for the month of May.

Sales in other regions increased 36.5% year on year to 76,191 units, mainly due to increased demand in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia and India.

Japan Exports
Nissan’s exports in May increased 5.7% year on year to 47,915 units.

Exports to North America increased 3.2% year on year to 28,150 units, mainly due to increased demand for Murano and Infiniti G.

Exports to Europe decreased 11.7% year on year to 6,056 units.
