Nissan Motor will build two new V6 engines at its second engine plant in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, for use in the fully redesigned Skyline coupe due on sale in Japan in November.

The new engines for rear-wheel-drive vehicles, including those sold in the United States as the Infiniti G35, are 10% more fuel efficient than the VQ engine used in the existing Skyline models and Fairlady Z [350Z] sports cars, Nissan claimed, according to Kyodo News.

They also rev smoothly to a class-topping speed of 7,500 revolutions per minute, the company added.

The new Fukushima plant, which has been constructed inside an existing production facility, will build the 3.5-litre VQ35HR and 2.5-litre VQ25HR engines and has capacity of 160,000 units a year, the company said in a statement cited by the news agency.
