Nissan Motor is suspending vehicle assembly at two US plants for three days from today (Thursday 15 July) due to delayed delivery of electronic engine management parts from Hitachi.

This follows similar suspensions at four plants in Japan, company officials in Tokyo told Kyodo News.
Nissan will suspend production at its plants in Smyrna, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi, the officials said.
In Japan, operations at Nissan’s four assembly plants were suspended for three days from Wednesday for the same reason.
Hitachi said last Monday the problem occurred as delivery of integrated circuits used to produce the electronic auto parts at Hitachi Automotive Systems started to be delayed earlier this month, due to what one official described as a tight demand-supply balance.
