Nissan Motor will launch a fully redesigned Presage minivan in the domestic market on July 24.

Among its new features are new seating layouts including a third-row seat that stows under the floor in a simple one-touch operation to create a large luggage area.

The second-row seat on the passenger side incorporates a remote-control walk-in feature that makes it easier to get in and out of the third-row seat and this second-row seat also slides sideways, reconfiguring it as a captain’s seat or a bench seat, according to seating needs.

The latest Presage is based on the front engine, front drive, large vehicle platform shared with the Japanese market Teana. The new version also features a glass hatch in the back door, a side blind spot monitor (an increasingly common feature on Japanese-market vehicles) and claimed outstanding ease of entry and exit thanks to a low, flat floor and sliding doors on both sides. The Presage also has Japan’s first SRS side curtain airbag system extending protection to third-row seat occupants.

The monthly sales target is 5,000 units and the Presage will be sold through several of Nissan’s home market dealer networks.
