Nissan has started sales of its all-new Otti minicar nationwide in Japan. As is common in the country’s minicar business, the automaker outsourced supply to Mitsubishi Motors, which supplies the cars on an ‘original equipment manufacturing’ basis.

The new Otti has a simple boxy style with a modern and roomy cabin with plenty of storage spaces. It also features improved visibility and has been specifically sized to fit into typical multi-storey garages common in the country. For added convenience and easy access in tight spaces, the vehicle can be equipped with a remote-controlled sliding door.
The new model comes in S/E/M trim levels and the sportier RS/RX series, and offers buyers the choice of non-turbo or inter-cooled turbo 0.66-litre powertrains.
The sales target is 2,600 cars per month and it priced from JPY976,500-1,510,950. ($US8,300-12,800)
The Otti’s claimed unique ‘inner green’ concept incorporates features such as an odour-free headliner and cabin air filters.

Models with non-turbo 3G83 engine are certified super-ultra-low emission vehicles (SU-LEVs) as they emit 75% less greenhouse gases below Japan’s 2005 exhaust emission standards. Models with the inter-cooled turbo 3G83 engine are Ultra Low Emission Vehicles, complying with the government’s 2005 standard of reducing emissions by 50%.
The 5-speed manual models with the 3G83 engine have surpassed the 2010 fuel-efficiency standard plus 10%, and are eligible for the 2006 Green Tax reduction.
