Mitsubishi Motors Corporation global production last month was up 7.4% to 117,314 units while Japan output rose 11.6% to 67,305 units, the ninth consecutive month of year-on-year growth, driven by more Outlander SUVs for the US, Europe and China, and Pajero for Europe.


First-half 2007 saw global production rise 3.8% to 693,801 units, the second consecutive half-year rise. Production in Japan was up 9.2% to 407,733 units.


June Japan sales were 17,917 units, 8.6% off year-on-year, as minicar sales fell.


Overseas production volume totalled 50,009 units, 2.2% up over June last year. Europe production was down 55.7% to 5,526 units, North America ouput was off 4% to 5,935 units but Asia production rose 17.4% to 34,301 units driven by a 91.2% rise in L200 pick-up truck exports from Thailand and a 75.8% increase in output at Proton to meet the recovery in Malaysia.


Exports from Japan of 54,399 units were 74% up on June 2006, the eighth consecutive month of year-on-year increases. Exports to Europe increased 213.9% to 27,649 units on Lancer and Outlander volume. Exports to Asia fell 8.6% to to 3,149 units, and North America shipments were off 40.8% to 3,305 units.

H1 Japan sales were 15.7% down at 122,190 units,  and Europe production fell 23.9% to 33,870 units, due mainly to sluggish sales of the Colt three-door and CZC coupe-cabriolet.


Asia production declined 0.4% to 187,550 units, due mainly to a 21.1% drop in Taiwan while North America production fell 1.2% to 41,814 units.


Exports to Europe rose 58.9%, shipments to North America jumped 121.5% to 39,922 units and Asia exports rose 9.3% to 18,733 units.
