Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. will establish a seven-member ethics committee next Monday to regain public trust following the revelation of multiple vehicle defect cover-ups, Kyodo News reported.
The committee will consist of five outside members as well as Mitsubishi Fuso Chairman Michio Hori and Yasuo Oizumi, head of the automaker’s labour union, the report said.
Chaired by Kozo Fujita, former chairman of the Public Security Examination Commission, the committee will directly make recommendations and proposals to the board of directors.
At its first meeting in early February, the committee will hear reports on the coverups from in-house investigators.
In addition to Fujita, the outside members also include Keisuke Kitajima, former attorney general, Kyodo News added.
