Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. has promoted executive vice president Michio Hori, 61, to chairman, replacing Takashi Usami, who resigned on Friday, according to the Detroit News.
Hori reportedly started his career in 1966 at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., which later separated its vehicle-making unit to form Mitsubishi Motors Corp.
Usami, 63, resigned to take responsibility after the company, at a cost of $72.4 million, recalled more than 130,000 trucks and buses to repair faulty hubs which have been linked to 50 accidents, including one death, the paper noted.
