Mazda built 99,649 vehicles globally in May, up 5.2% on the same month last year.

Global production for the first five months of the year was 528,329, an increase of 3.4%.

Passenger vehicle production was up 5.3% to 500,513 but commercial vehicles production slumped 22.4% to 27,816.

The company reported that passenger vehicle exports to Europe were up 40.8% to 22,692 in May, taking the five-month total to 91,373, an increase of 26.3%.

Gains in Europe helped offset a 10.4% fall in North America to 136,838 and Oceania, down 12% to 35,837.
