Mazda Motor has begun operations at its newly-established national sales company (NSC) in Taiwan, Mazda Motor Taiwan (MMT).
MMT will plan and implement branding and sales strategies, aiming to increase Mazda sales in Taiwan.
Mazda began selling vehicles in Taiwan as far back as 1959 and, since 1998, all sales-related activities have been carried out by Ford Distribution Taiwan (FDTL) – reflecting the now all-but-severed close ties – including Asian market model sharing – between the two automakers over several decades.
MMT will take over FDTL’s sales network and assume control of all sales-related activities.
However, despite the change, long standing contract assembler Ford Lio Ho Motor (FLH) will continue to build the 3 (Axela in Japan) and 5 (Premacy) in Taiwan for Mazda.
