Mazda Motor Corporation said cumulative production of the CX-5 crossover passed 1m at the end of April 2015. This was three years and five months after production commenced in November 2011.

The CX-5 was the second fastest Mazda model to reach the milestone following the 3/Axela.

Mazda began production of the CX-5, which launched Skyactiv technology and ‘Kodo Soul of Motion’ design, at its Ujina plant in Hiroshima and has expanded output to manufacture at Changan Mazda Automobile in China and local assembly at Mazda Sollers Manufacturing Rus in Russia, Mazda Malaysia and Vina Mazda Automobile Manufacturing in Vietnam.
