Isuzu Motors has started selling small trucks in Mexico.
Kyodo News said sales of vehicles shipped from Japan are undertaken by Isuzu Motors de Mexico S.de R.L., which was set up in July jointly with Mitsubishi Corp.
The sales subsidiary expects to sell 300 units in 2005, 1,800 units in 2006 and 2,300 units in 2007.
According to Isuzu, about 30,000 small trucks are sold in Mexico every year, while the country’s overall annual truck sales are estimated at 200,000 units.
The move is part of Isuzu’s fiscal 2005-2007 management plan calling for an increase in overseas sales of its vehicles, Kyodo News noted.
