Japanese truckmaker Isuzu Motors Ltd. has said that it plans to virtually double its production of pick-up trucks in Thailand this month reflecting higher demand in Thailand and in markets through Asia.

The company will make 10,000 pick-up trucks a month at its factory near Bangkok by introducing an extra work shift.

Demand has been especially strong for the Isuzu D-MAX models, which was jointly developed with GM and launched onto the Thai market in May.

Isuzu plans to raise its production target in Thailand for this calender year from 50,000 units to 70,000.
