Honda is to cut output at its Suzuka plant (that makes the Fit and CR-Z) by around 20% – according to the Nikkei news agency.
The plant will reportedly operate just the day shift for half of fiscal 2015 on a Mei Prefecture factory line that makes the Fit subcompact, effectively reducing output at the plant by about 20% compared with fiscal 2014, Nikkei said.

The report said that the Suzuka factory’s two production lines normally operate on day and night shifts. For April through October, it will run only the day shift on the line that churns out the Fit and the CR-Z sport compact hybrid.
The report added that although Honda plans to boost production at its two Saitama auto factories, the scale-back at the Suzuka site means that domestic output will total fewer than 900,000 cars for fiscal 2015. This is just a slight boost over the 850,000-plus cars expected for the current fiscal year, Nikkei said.
