Honda on Monday said its Chinese joint firm Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co. on Sunday began producing the Fit subcompact hatchback car.
Jiji Press aid that, by adding the subcompact car to its lineup amid sharply growing demand, Honda aims to increase its sales in the Chinese market.
The Fit, known in some markets as the Jazz, is to be launched in China on Sept. 22 with engine displacements of 1,300 cc and 1,500 cc. Priced from 96,800 yuan, it will be the least expensive car sold by Honda in the country.
The Fit subcompact is the fourth model manufactured by Guanzhou Honda, following the Accord sedan, the Odyssey minivan and the Fit Saloon small sedan.
