Toyota truck unit Hino Motors returned to the black in the April to December period and lifted its net profit projection for the full year on brisk sales in emerging countries such as Asia as well as Central and South America.
For the nine-month period, the unit posted JPY7.93bn yen in group net profit, a turnaround from the previous year’s loss of JPY28.90bn yen as sales grew 37.9% to JPY918.55bn, Kyodo News reported.
For the full year to March, Hino said it expects to post a group net profit of JPY9bn, up from an earlier projected net profit of JPY8bn yen on sales of JPY1.26 trillion, compared with JPY1.20 trillion forecast in October.
Hino said its sales were also lifted by increased production of the Land Cruiser Prado SUV which it manufactures for Toyota.
