Hino Motors is recalling 60,361 units of eight small truck models for free replacement of defective wipers.

The vehicles were manufactured between April 1999 and March 2002 and the eight models include the Hino Dutro and the Toyota Dyna, which Hino Motors produces for Toyota Motor, the automaker said in a report to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport cited by Kyodo News.

Wipers in the trucks reportedly could cause a fire due to defective switch contacts.

Separately, Peugeot Japon Co. told the ministry it is recalling 3,498 units of the Peugeot 206 Style, Peugeot 206 XT Premium and eight other models for free replacement of a defective computer programme that could keep tooting the horn when the doors are locked with a remote control key.

Subject to the recall are those imported between June 2003 and May this year, the Japanese arm of Peugeot SA told Kyodo News.
