Japanese automobile exports in the first 11 months of fiscal 2007 came to 6,131,700 units, making the fiscal year the second straight year for Japan’s auto exports to break the 6-million-unit line, according to the industry’s trade association.
In the previous fiscal year ended March 31 last year, Japan exported 6,130,421 units, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
In February alone, Japanese automobile exports amounted to 587,825 units, a record for the month and up 13.1% from a year earlier, the association said.
By destination, Asian-bound exports were up 66.3%, while those bound for the Middle East jumped 34.3%, it said.
Domestic auto output in the first 11 months of fiscal 2007 came to 10,685,400 units amid strong exports, making the year the sixth consecutive year for the nation’s domestic auto output to top the 10-million-unit threshold.
