PAG Import Inc., the Japanese importer, will recall 13,886 units of three Volvo passenger car models for free repairs due to a motor problem that could cause a fire, Kyodo News said.
Subject to the recall are V70, S80 and S60 models manufactured between October 1995 and April 1998 and imported between July 1999 and November 2001, the importer said in a report to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
PAG Import said a part in a fan motor controller inside a radiator is improperly soldered and that it could catch fire if there is a short circuit.
The importer filed the report after a Volvo car’s engine caught fire in Kunitachi, western Tokyo, in February, Kyodo News said.
