Denso is on course to launch low-priced air conditioners for automobiles by fiscal 2010, targeting emerging markets such as China and India, company sources said on Friday.

The parts maker expects to expand its share of the global car air conditioner market to 35% from the current 30%, they told Kyodo News.

Denso has been manufacturing air conditioning systems for automakers, including for Toyota vehicles manufactured in China, but the company wants to develop low-cost products in a bid to meet growing demand from automakers which plan to sell finished vehicles in emerging markets, the report noted.

Sales of heating and related systems, including car air conditioners, accounted for some 30% of Denso’s total sales of JPY3.19 trillion in its 2005 business year, Kyodo News said.
