Daihatsu will sell the new car at prices from 1 million to 1.36 million yen, with the domestic sales target set at 3,000 units per month.
The car is equipped with a 660cc engine and eligible for tax breaks and subsidies for fuel-efficient cars.
”Economic conditions continue to be harsh, but I’m confident that minivehicles will contribute as an easily accessible eco-car with lower fuel consumption and saving of resources amid increased consciousness about the environment,” Daihatsu President Teruyuki Minoura said at a press conference in Tokyo.
