Daihatsu Motor Company has boosted consolidated net profit for the first half of fiscal 2000 by 74.1% compared with 1999, Kyodo News reports. Extensive cost-cutting efforts contributed to the profit increase which was achieved despite a 2.5% drop in sales. April-September group net profit was 5.24 billion yen on sales of 474.54 billion yen while consolidated pretax profit rose 11.0% to 11.49 billion yen.
