Toyota’s minivehicles specialist unit Daihatsu Motor has said that strong demand in Indonesia and Malaysia will drive an 8% rise in global sales to over one million vehicles next year.

It is looking to sell 1.06m units in 2008 after an estimated 5% rise this year, Reuters reported.


Global production, which includes vehicles made for sale under the Toyota badge, was seen at 1.47m units next year, a climb of 7%.


Daihatsu also set itself a 2008 domestic sales goal of a 1% rise to 615,000 minivehicles, Reuters added.
