It reads like an April Fool’s Day wind-up, but one of Citroen’s distributors has sent us a press release claiming that the brand’s Italian operation really has launched the Citroën Berlingo ‘Tweety Pie and Sylvester’.
This derivative of the Berlingo –a passenger-carrying version of a small van popular in Europe – is said to be the first product of a tie-up between Citroën Italy and Warner Brothers Entertainment with the aim of cars even more child-friendly.
In addition to a decal, sticker and upholstery package, with the aim of providing visual interest for smaller children while they are in the vehicle, the Berlingo is equipped for older children with twin wide screen LCDs for the rear passengers, connected to a multimedia DVD player and games console, to complement the roof lockers, individual sunroofs and picnic tables that are standard in the Italian-spec Citroën Berlingo Multispace.
But why Warner Brothers characters and Tweety Pie and Sylvester in particular?
Citroen said the Warner Brothers ‘Looney Tunes’ series remain some of the most innovative cartoons ever produced.

By GlobalData“The quality of the writing has proven both timeless and entertaining to children and adults alike. Tweety Pie and Sylvester were chosen for the first car as they are appealing to the widest age range,” a Citroen statement said.
