Fiat has begun selling its second generation compact Palio Weekend station wagon in Italy – importing the cars from Brazil and Poland, writes Rogério Louro.
The latest version has external and internal design revisions by Giorgetto Giugiaro and revised equipment.
Two new engines are fitted to the revised Italian range: a 1.2-litre, eight-valve petrol engine and a 1.9-litre common rail turbodiesel. The previous 1.2-litre 16-valve and 1.6-litre 16-valve petrol and 1.9-litre diesel engines remain on offer.
The second generation Palio Weekend was first introduced in Brazil – where it is built – at the end of 2000 when Fiat also launched the second generation hatchback and (Palio-based) Siena sedan models.
