The board of Tofa AS, the Fiat Auto and Koç Holding joint venture listed on the Istanbul Stock Exchange, has appointed Alfredo Altavilla as chief executive officer. Altavilla replaces Diego Avesani, who rejoins Fiat Auto.


An Italian, Altavilla joined Fiat Auto’s international ventures developments department as an analyst in 1990. From 1992 to 1995, he worked in strategic planning and product development.


In 1995, Altavilla was appointed Fiat Auto chief representative in the China. In 1999, he was named senior manager, Asia.


From 2000 to 2004, Altavilla was in charge of a number of projects and initiatives within the corporate development department of Fiat Auto, primarily in relationship with the establishment and development of the alliances with GM and PSA Peugeot Citroën.


In September 2004, Altavilla was appointed senior vice president, business development and chairman of Fiat-GM Powertrain.
