Fiat Group has beaten analysts’ estimates by EUR27m with net profit of EUR427m, its 13th consecutive quarterly rise.


Pre-tax profits rose EUR62m to EUR636m. Revenues passed the EUR15bn mark, nearly 10% up on 2007 and the highest Q1 level in company history.


Fiat Group Automobiles (FGA) delivered 563,600 units delivered during the quarter, up 4.1% year on year.


Although overall demand in western Europe was down, FGA reported notable year-over-year increases in Germany (+15%) and France (+27%), in addition to experiencing a record quarter in Brazil (+35%).


FGA contributed trading profit of EUR193m (2.8% of revenues), slightly higher than 2007 reported levels but up EUR81m or 53% excluding one-off items.
