Delphi Corporation head of international operations Jose Maria Alapont is leaving on October 1 to become CEO of Iveco, the commercial vehicle division of Fiat Group, Automotive News Europe (ANE) reported on Thursday.

The trade newspaper said that Alapont, who had been president of international operations and vice president of sales and marketing for the world’s largest automotive parts supplier, will replace Michel de Lambert, who became CEO of Iveco two years ago when it acquired his former employer, Fraikin, a truck leasing company in France.

Fiat Group international corporate communications head Richard Gadeselli told ANE that De Lambert, whose interests are in finance and not truck manufacturing, requested to leave Iveco.

“Alapont was chosen because of his strong industrial background,” Gadeselli reportedly said, adding: “He worked for Ford Motor Co. and in Europe, and Delphi is a supplier to our company.”

According to Automotive News Europe, Delphi spokesman David Bodkin said no decision has been made about a replacement for Alapont.
