Brembo and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have signed a financing contract for EUR55m (US$75m) aimed at supporting the Bergamo-based company’s research and development activity in the fields of control of the environmental impact and further reduction of braking systems weight.

The loan is intended to support a four-year project with a total cost of around EUR116m, in the field of product and production process innovation.

The research programme aims at improving the performances and safety standards of high-performance braking systems through the identification of lighter materials and innovative components capable of further reducing the environmental impact and emissions of particulate matter into the atmosphere.
