Produced in collaboration with Tofas, the publicly-listed Turkish joint venture between Fiat Auto and Koç Holding, the new Linea will be made first in the joint venture’s Bursa plant in Turkey (at an annual production of 60,000 units) and marketed in a number of European and non-European countries starting from the second half of 2007.

Fiat will later build the car in other countries.

The news car is 4.56m long, 1.73m wide and 1.5 m tall on a 2.6m wheelbase and has a 500 litre luggage compartment.

Fiat said the Linea would be marketed with different equipment levels and equipped with features more usually found in higher segment vehicles such as telematics.

Petrol and diesel engines and manual and automatic transmissions will be offered.
