Al-Bawaba News reports that Iran’s largest vehicle manufacturer, Iran Khodro, will deliver 4,000 light and heavy vehicles to Syria by March, making it the second major car exporter to this Arab country. The report cited as source the English-language paper Iran Daily.
A report by the company’s Public Relations Office quoted the Export Manager to the Persian Gulf Region, Amir Havashem, as saying that the Samand (Iran’s national car developed by Iran Khodro) production line will also be set up in suburban Damascus later this year.
“At least 4,000 Iran’s national sedan will be released to the Syrian market in the first year,” he said. According to him, the total value of Iran Khodro’s exports to Syria is expected to reach US$40 million dollars by March, showing a ten-fold increase compared to the figure for last year.
