New vehicle sales in Indonesia were almost unchanged in August at 96,460 units compared with 96,280 units in the same month of last year, according to local reports citing data from industry association Gaikindo.
Sales in the first eight months of the year the market was 3.5% higher at 715,290 units, compared with 690,300 units in the same period of last year.
New models launched at last month's annual motor show, including the new Mitsubishi Xpander compact MPV, are expected to provide additional support for the market in the fourth quarter of the year.
Industry association Gaikindo expects full year sales to approach 1.1m units this year, from 1.063m units last year.
Economic growth in the country remains moderate, at around 5% in the first half of the year, and the central bank cut its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 4.5% in August to help stimulate consumer spending.
