New vehicle sales in Indonesia increased by 32% to 49,137 units in September, from 37,208 units a year earlier, according to data released by industry association Gaikindo.
But the rate of growth slowed sharply compared with the peak levels in previous months when sales amounted to 64,762 units in August and 72,090 units in July. The annual Idul Fitri holidays significantly reduced the number of working days in September and consumers has brought purchases forward into previous months.
Year-to-date, sales were up almost 65% to 556,195, from 337,403 units a year earlier.
