Tata Motors plans to launch a range of light commercial vehicles in Indonesia in the second half of 2013.
Tata Motors Indonesia, the exclusive local distributor, plans to launch the Super Ace, Ace Ex and Xenon models after seeing encouraging market growth in the country last year.
Total Indonesian vehicle sales are expected to come in at close to 1.1m units in 2012 – up 23% on the previous year.
Indonesia has a substantial market for small, cab over, pickup trucks which is dominated by Daihatsu, Suzuki and Mitsubishi-Fuso. The market for Thai-made 1-tonne pickup trucks such as the Tata Xenon also has expanded rapidly in recent years.
Tata Motors Indonesia also plans to follow up this initial market entry with low-cost passenger cars.
