Volkswagen India has built its 100,000th car at its manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune.
The milestone Vento [Polo sedan] came just over two years after start of production in May 2009 and five months after the 50,000th was made.

Chakan is a full manufacturing plant with press, body and paint shops feeding the assembly line and currently produces the Polo, Vento and Skoda Fabia.
The plant was built in a record 17 months at a cost of INR3,800 crores (EUR580m) and is the largest investment to date by a German company in India.
