Toyota’s latest global recall includes Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Innova in India.

TKM is recalling 44,989 units to replace the possibly defective airbag spiral cable in the steering wheel, reported Indo Asian News Service. The carmaker said the recall involves vehicles produced between February 2005 and December 2008, and repairs should take around an hour.

TKM said: “This [potential fault] will lead to continuous illumination of an airbag warning lamp on the instrument cluster giving prior indication of a problem to the customer. In addition, the driver’s airbag may get deactivated.

“Toyota is currently working on obtaining the necessary replacement parts. Once the replacement parts are available, customers will be contacted by authorised Toyota dealers. The vehicle will then be repaired free of cost,” the company added.
